Xander Bogaerts is a professional baseball player from the Netherlands. He was born on October 1, 1992, in Oranjestad, Aruba, which was then part of the Netherlands Antilles. Bogaerts is a shortstop and bats right-handed.
He began his professional career in the Boston Red Sox organization in 2009, signing as an amateur free agent. He made his Major League Baseball debut in 2013 and has been a fixture in the Red Sox lineup ever since.
Bogaerts has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including two Silver Slugger Awards, two All-Star Game selections, and a World Series championship in 2018. He is widely regarded as one of the best shortstops in the league.
Although Bogaerts was born in Aruba, he represents the Netherlands in international competition. He has played for the Dutch national team in the World Baseball Classic and other tournaments.
